The Grooming School has the ability to teach all aspects of dog grooming from entry levels to advanced grooming skills. Our instructors are all certified instructors who have been intensely trained by our Grooming Director and Master Groomer, Christine Speerin ICMG. Practical Experience
Learn dog grooming through experience—you will be working with dogs from day one. All dogs are professionally prepared and selected for you by our instructors to ensure that your entire time is devoted to learning what you need to learn.
Career

5-Week Course

- Our 5-week Dog Grooming Course is suitable for any one wishing to get started in the dog grooming industry. On successful completion you will be able to work as an employee for a dog grooming establishment.

10-Week Course
Course Price $16,500 + gst
The 10-week course includes all components of the 5-week course structure, with the added bonus of learning more advanced techniques at a slower pace.
The 5-week course is fast paced and very intense; the 10 week course allows students time and also the added comfort of reinforcing your techniques with more repetition.
For those students looking for more time to polish their skills, to focus on particular breeds and to gain further knowledge in breed standards the 10-week course is designed to allow for more time to focus to learn dog grooming advanced techniques
The further 5 week time frame gives you breathing space and can be taken in blocks or increments of days suitable to your life situation. There is no use by date or timeline needed to complete these hours.
The 10 weeks course is designed to allow for concentrated case studies on breeds and pet trims that the student would like to develop their knowledge and skills, as well as improve on their time management and understanding of breeds.
Certification
Certification and Qualification in the Australian grooming industry can appear to be confusing to anyone new to the industry.
We understand why this is but in reality the truth is… it’s not.
We answer a lot of questions on this subject.
No matter what you have heard or who you have heard it from please let me be very clear when we say that Certification or industry qualifications are not required in Australia to legally work in the industry
The pet grooming industry is one of many industries in Australia that is unregulated and certification is not required to work in unregulated industries.
As with similar hands on industries, knowledge is also important, but your hands on ability and dog handling skills are essential for you to learn dog grooming and succeed
Owners of The Grooming School Les & Christine Speerin have both had extensive knowledge in Australian certification and have been involved in various overseas grooming certifications over the years including IJA (International Judges Association) IPG ( International Professional Groomers Inc ) IGU (International Groomers Union) AIPG (Australian Institute Pet Grooming).
If an employer has any pre requisites for any particular certification to be completed to be employed in their business then that is a personal requirement for that independent business and not a mandatory industry requirement.
All trainers at The Grooming School have been taught by Christine Speerin who is a recognised ICMG (International Certified Master Groomer) Christine has certified for professional certification companies in the US, China, South Korea, Australia & NZ
